From Ireland’s medieval castles, stories of poets, saints and scholars - Trim Castle Hotel is prominently positioned in Ireland’s Ancient East, surrounded by legendary sites and stories as well as popular family activities which include, Causey Farm, Emerald Park,  Dublin Zoo and leisure activities including golf, angling, tennis and equestrian and much much more. From the High Kings and early Christians to Viking and Norman invaders, to English rule and the struggle for Irish independence - all the layers of history can be traced on and around the prehistoric sites in Co. Meath.  
 

Trim Visitor Centre is open Monday to Friday (09.30 to 17.30), offering the latest information about the Trim area and the surrounding Boyne Valley - and the interactive walking Medieval Armoury Tour for all ages. It’s also possible to see the model of Trim Castle used as part of the film set of Oscar-winning historical movie ‘Braveheart’ starring Mel Gibson. The newly launched Royal Canal Greenway, running from Maynooth to County Longford, is 130km of level towpath offering walkers, runners and cyclists a chance to follow the 200 year old canal through the heart of our county - with picnic spots along the way.

Explore Ireland's Ancient East

In addition to the brilliant official tour of Trim Castle - suitable for all ages - there are many adventures to be experienced on the River Boyne. Few visitors realise there is a wonderful river walk adjacent to the castle that offers stunning views of Ireland’s famous medieval heritage sites - including Trim Castle, Yellow Steeple and the remains of Talbot’s Castle. Go on foot or on bike! Boyne Valley Activities now offers thrilling kayaking trips down our small rapids and weirs, passing some amazing scenery on the trip.
