Causey Farm
Causey Farm is truly a unique and fun experience. Family owned and run this farm is located in the heart of the Irish countryside and is a step back in time not to be missed. The activities on the farm are completely interactive giving you the hands on experience as to what life in the Irish Countryside is really about!!
Some of the activities include:
Milking the cows and help Chip, the sheepdog, round up the sheep!
Discover the flora and fauna as you take a nature walk in the Irish countryside.
Make your own Brown Bread in the traditional Irish way.
Join in the fun and learn how to Irish Ceili Dance and play the Bodhran.
Find out if you’re a budding artist and paint your own mural.
This award winning venue offers first class entertainment! The tour will depart Trim Castle Hotel at 10.00am for Causey Farm (*Causey is closed on Sundays).
Grove Gardens
Our next stop brings us to the magnificent Grove Gardens. This is an informal garden on 6 acres with exotic animals and fowl, walks, roses and clematis.
This is a place with something for everyone. Where else would you find a fairy ring, a magic tree, African Spotted Owls and a great collection of clematis and roses, all in the one spot? Pat Dillon has been gardening since he was a child which, combined with a farmer’s knowledge, makes for green fingers and many practical tips which he is happy to share.
The garden flows informally into different areas, a cottage garden, sweeping lawns with beds of roses and shrubs skirted in box, a tranquil damp garden where rogersias, primulas and hostas flourish. In addition there is a gravel garden planted with roses, clematis and cheerful dahlias and a vegetable garden guarded by a turkey who gets very upset at the mention of Christmas.
The gardens features include:
The clematis walk containing over 300 species of small and large flowered hybrids and herbaceous climatic.
The rose garden has over 400 plants of French, English and modern roses. The tropical bird garden and mini zoo is a recent addition to Grove Gardens. A large variety of exotic and rare breeds of birds are housed in purpose-built aviaries which were specifically designed to blend in with the gardens There is also a coffee shop on site.
The tour will be back at Trim Castle Hotel around 4.00pm
